Brigata Estense - Cacciatore 1849
54mm unique piece sculpture - Private commission
The Brigade of "Ducato di Modena" was reformed by its commander Duca Francesco V of Augsburg-Este, coming back with the help of Austrian troops after his exile due to the mots of 1848. The brigade took part to the expedition with Austrian troops in 1849 to reestablish the Granduca Leopoldo II of Augsburg-Lorena exiled too after the popular mots of 1848. The uniform of the Cacciatori, was inspired to the austrian Jagers uniform including the Tyrolean hat. The Brigade was the only formation refusing the unification of Italy in 1859 and going in exile in Austria until the 24 of September 1863 when the brigade was dissolved.
